Student Mental Health and Wellbeing
At Catholic Education Western Australia, we adopt an inclusive approach to education. With the support of parents, our schools determine the needs of individual students and put programs and support in place to address those needs. This ensures the progress and wellbeing of the whole child, not just their academic performance.
School and Catholic Education Western Australia Psychology Services
All Catholic schools in Western Australia have access to psychology services to support students and staff. While some larger schools employ their own educational psychologists, others are supported by the Catholic Education Western Australia Psychology Team.
The Catholic Education Western Australia Psychology Team, comprises psychologists, senior psychologists and consultant senior psychologists in a variety of roles. Psychologists in schools apply their psychological and educational expertise to support students to achieve academic success, psychological health and social and emotional wellbeing. Psychologists can support schools via direct services – learning and behavioural assessments; consultation to schools staff on programs and strategies; professional learning for school communities; whole school support programs and so on.
The Team also has a dedicated consultant who works with our schools in the area of Student Engagement. This person is not a psychologist but is very experienced in supporting student engagement and students with challenging behaviours and works alongside the Psychology Team and the Students with Disability Team
