Holy Cross College is a vibrant, future focused, co-educational Catholic school located in Ellenbrook, the regional hub of the rapidly expanding northern-eastern corridor of Perth. Opening in 2010, the College has grown to include enrolments from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12, and offers before and after school care.
Stepping onto the College campus, visitors marvel at the extensive grounds and cleverly landscaped play spaces and reflection gardens. Immediately, visitors get a sense of the unique qualities of the College that include: flexible learning spaces; contemporary pedagogies; seamless integration of digital technologies; rich and authentic Catholic faith rituals and traditions; and above all, happy students who are engaged, challenged and progressing.
The College has developed a rich faith story that would be characteristic of schools with much older traditions. With a distinctly Catholic identity, the College is explicitly centred in Christ, drawing inspiration from the most significant symbol in Christendom, The Holy Cross. Our Vision is to be ‘a place of transformation in the spirit of the Risen Christ’. We take inspiration from our College patron, Blessed Oscar Romero, Archbishop of San Salvador in El Salvador, whose deep faith in Jesus Christ led to his martyrdom as he became ‘the voice for the voiceless poor’.
Our Mission and Motto, is to ‘empower our students to have Life to the Full (John 10:10). Our students are encouraged to grow their talents wholeheartedly, for the benefit of both themselves and others.
The College is a diverse, dynamic community of learners that challenges each student to be the best that they can be. To meet the ever-changing demands of the modern world, students require sound problem-solving skills, a capacity to be innovative and creative, and an ability to adapt to changes. To ensure our students graduate with an entrepreneurial edge, the College has constructed its vision for learning around the new pedagogies for deep learning and the Six C’s. That is, character education, citizenship, collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking.
A holistic education program is offered through the four pillars of Learning, Inter-Relationships, Faith and Enrichment (LIFE). Pastoral Care is underpinned by Gospel values and is a vital part of College life. Students in the Junior School will develop a sense of being, belonging and becoming through rich and creative play based learning experiences. The Middle School years provide opportunities for students to engage in both specialist and integrated learning. In the Senior School, students pursue both University entrance and Vocational pathways. Holy Cross College is committed to providing an education that recognises and caters for individual needs. While all students experience an enriched learning programme, academic extension and literacy and numeracy support are also available.
Designed for 21st Century learning, Holy Cross College has a particular focus on using digital technology for learning. Each student has an individual iPad and works in a technology rich environment. The College has been recognised as an Apple Distinguished School by Apple Corporation for innovation, leadership and excellence in the use of digital technology in the teaching and learning process. The College is renowned for its progressive approach to education and is frequently visited by educators from around Australia and internationally.
