St Brigid’s College was established in 1929 by the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy, West Perth congregation. The campus consists of a co-educational Junior School for Years Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6 and a girls only day and boarding high school, Years 7 to 12. From the 12th December 2011, as a result of the reconfiguration of the Sisters of Mercy to the newly formed Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of Australia and Papua New Guinea (ISMAPNG), the College came under the governance of Mercy Education Limited. We are guided by the Mandate of the Catholic Bishops of Western Australia and the policies of both the Catholic Education Commission of Western Australia and Mercy Education Limited.
In addition, SBC is the first Catholic school in Western Australia to have been authorised to offer the Middle Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate Organisation. The Primary Years Programme is in place in our Junior School – Pre Kindy to Year 6 ( coeducational).
Being registered by local education authorities and being an IB World School provides parents with a number of assurances that students at St Brigid’s College are receiving holistic quality education across important areas.
Parents too play a crucial role at SBC. They are partners in their children’s education and help to make the school a welcoming and warm environment. Working in partnership with families, dedicated staff members do everything they can to make each family’s stay happy and rewarding as we recognise that the strength of the partnership between the students, parents and staff at St Brigid’s determines the degree of our success.
