First Nations Education Towards 2035

CEWA > Our Schools > Key Initiatives > First Nations Education Towards 2035

First Nations Education Towards 2035 is a multifaceted strategy, with a focus on strengthening relationships between schools and their local First Nations community.

Catholic Education Western Australia commits to a future where all First Nations students and staff are supported to thrive academically, culturally and spiritually; where families and communities are genuinely engaged and empowered; where all staff are formed in cultural competence and humility; and where schools witness to the Gospel through actions that promote justice, reconciliation and hope.

The strategy sets out five goals to reach by 2035:

First Nations Education Towards 2035  makes use of CEWA’s First Nations Education Improvement Map (FNEIM) as a multipurpose tool for whole-school improvement through a First Nations education lens.

Underpinned by the Bishops’ Mandate, the CECWA Strategic Directions and a cultural competency framework, the FNEIM supports schools to identify and map school improvement across stages of cultural competency, guided by First Nations Education Team Consultants.
