St Brigid’s School, in partnership with parents, strives to provide a happy atmosphere that promotes learning, gives encouragement and assistance and challenges children to grow to their full potential.

Our School

St Brigid’s School is a Catholic co-educational primary school catering for 195 students from Three Year Old Kindergarten to Year Six. The school is nestled in natural bushland and occupies a significant place in the life of Catholic families living in the town of Bridgetown and some surrounding suburbs.

The Sisters of Mercy established the School in 1905. St Brigid’s achieves its mission by providing a welcoming and supportive environment that enhances learning, nurtures young people and empowers them to live the Catholic faith in the Spirit of Jesus Christ. We believe that students learn better, and staff are more effective, when there is a positive, caring culture where relationships and learning are both important. St Brigid’s is highly regarded within Bridgetown due to its enthusiastic and dedicated staff, supportive and active parent community and happy students. Together, all this helps to create a vibrant Christ-centred, child-centred and family-centred school.

The School enjoys a strong relationship with the Parish Community and both work together to provide a ‘Family First, Parish Based and School Supported’ Sacramental program.

The main emphasis of the School Curriculum is Literacy and Numeracy with the staff being involved in Numeracy Leaders with Dr Paul Swan, Action Research on Feedback as well as a partnership with Speech Therapy, ‘Kids Chatter Matters’.

We offer a variety of programs and opportunities to our students to enhance their learning – Choir, IT, Japanese, Library, Music, Physical Education, Drama, Literacy Support, and Support Staff. The School Information Technology Plan has facilitated the placement of 180 iPads across the school for 2018 along with, Smartboards, large screen TV’s and the application of interactive technology throughout the whole School.

St Brigid’s has a strong sustainability focus with vegetable gardens for each class, a Cows Creates Careers program for Year Six, Bush Options for Kindy-Year 2 and an Options program for Years 3-6. In 2017, we became a nationally recognised KidsMatter School.

The school has excellent infrastructure including a contemporary and well -resourced Library, a Multi-Purpose Hall, undercover area, and a variety of play areas throughout the school for the children.
